CI Select, Knoll and Space Architecture + Design provide a custom office environment for Visiting Nurse Association in Kennett, Missouri

When the VNA decided to find a new home in 2014, the organization’s leadership team sought a brighter future. Specifically, the team wanted a headquarters that would reflect the VNA’s mission and create a feeling of community among staffers. Located in the small farming community of Kennett, Missouri, the VNA worked with Space Architecture + Design, Knoll and CI Select to design a new space with an open office layout that could foster community and connection amongst the staff.

Today, the VNA headquarters stands out as modern and beautiful, and thanks to the open layout, it is helping the VNA’s team be more motivated and connected than ever before.

CI Select provided furniture, flooring and architectural walls for AB Mauri's new offices in the Cortex Innovation Community, which was completed in late January. The 23,000-square-foot office space features a 5,000-square-foot baking hub for the baking solutions business and took about a year to plan and complete. "It was a very exciting project for CI Select as it was very representative of the new vibrant work environments," said Claire Ecker, principal at CI Select. "The president of AB Mauri, Mark Prendergast, had a very clear vision for the project, and we were able to help, along with the design firm QDR, to make the project a reality."

CI Select Celebrates 30 Years in Business 1985-2015

CI Select is excited to be celebrating its 30 year anniversary!

CI Select is a Saint Louis industry leader providing innovative, adaptable Furniture, Flooring and Audiovisual solutions to an ever-changing business environment.

This is a very dynamic time for the modern workplace. While no one can predict the “office of the future”, there is, however, one constant we can count on and that is change. Due to technology, the nature of the workplace and the way in which people work is changing at an energetic pace. This rapid rate of change in the workplace is unprecedented in the 30 years that CI Select has been doing business.

In 1985, Knoll, a leading manufacturer of modern home and office furniture, elected to enter the systems furniture arena to bring high design to systems furniture. To market this new systems product, Knoll needed an exclusive channel of distribution. Recognizing this need, George Piccirilli started CI Select with the premise that well designed furniture, coupled with sophisticated project management, would be well received in the St. Louis market.

CI Select began as Corporate Interiors with 4 employees and a 2,000 square foot showroom. After 5 years of continuous growth, the company relocated to a larger showroom with 20 employees. In 1990, the company needed to expand yet again and moved to a 10,000 square foot showroom with 42 employees. CI Select is currently in a state-of-the-art 18,000 square foot showroom in Westport and a 50,000 square foot warehouse facility located in Earth City, with a total 75 employees.

CI Select’s initial market focus was Fortune 500 companies. In 1991, the company doubled in size through an acquisition, thus expanding its market reach to include mid-sized companies, educational institutions and government facilities. From 2005 to 2007, CI Select acquired two additional companies, a commercial flooring distributor and an audiovisual integration company, which added $20 million to their revenue base. This broadened the company’s product offering and made CI Select an even stronger business partner. To reflect this comprehensive range of product offerings, the company officially changed its name in 2008 to CI Select.

Over the last 2 years, CI Select has developed a succession plan to provide leadership continuity and future direction to the company. Brian Heigel and Claire Erker have acquired significant ownership of the company in the newly formed Co-Office of the President and are now jointly running the sales and operations of the company. Brian has responsibilities for Finance and Operations while Claire has responsibilities for Sales and Marketing. George Piccirilli remains with the company with his focus on strategic planning and major customer accounts.

In addition to celebrating their 30th anniversary, CI Select also had a record-breaking year in 2014, with annual sales exceeding $55 million. CI Select is a member of the President’s Circle for both the Knoll and The HON Company.

2015 will be marked with numerous celebrations for CI Select’s 30 year anniversary. We would like to thank our customers, longstanding, new and future, and continue to provide innovative, adaptable Furniture, Flooring and Audiovisual solutions to the ever changing workplace.
